The week's question
In December 2024, in the thread "Re: BRK: Why Not XOM?", BreckHutHigh asked the members: "What about the long road trips with kids?" This week it is put to everyone again. The button below opens the small thread re-asking it - read what others have said so far, then give your own answer as an ordinary reply.

The only meaningful outstanding interest I see are the 500 calls, 5736 out, and the puts,

507.5 put- 2476 out.

510 put, - 3032 out.

I'm short brkb calls against my entire position, and the 460 puts, all jan/27 for several reasons.

IF Buffett initiated the googl position, obviously, the private placement purchase, at best, was a joint decision.

The Taylor buy no doubt was at least, approved, by Buffett.

The chance that Greg took the job, went right to Buffett and said, Warren, you never understood how to value brkb, I'm a buyer at 1.45 xs BV, is nil, imo. So, Buffett agreed to buy 8-10 billion at these levels, let's just say better late than never. Let's just say the, timing, in view of Buffett's new and improved estate selling plans, is disturbing, to be kind. I would prefer to see brkb buy 40 billion brkb at 495- 500, and agree to stay out of the market for two years while Greg settles in.

Bottom line, from what I see, Buffett is still very much in the room at the table. Blaming SIZE for the last 5 years performance is a joke. Ya think Buffett being a net seller of stocks for the past 5 years into a monster bull market may have hurt? Did hoarding cash hurt? Ya think Ted and Todd had a ruff ten years managing money, did that hurt?

Many of us here have been sharing our thoughts for over 25 years, but even for this crowd, the level of denial is off the chart. I'm the only, old timer still posting, who has questioned Uncle Warren over the years, with justification. No one pitches a perfect game for 50 years and Buffett never claimed he has.

The interviews he does with Becky provide very little material new info.

BTW, many very sharp guys in the space are very concerned about the, brain drain, at googl. We shall see if those concerns are justified.

Finally, I had minor surgery on my lower eye lid, so I'm a bit visually impaired, sorry for even more typos than normal. :)

Good luck, from the sober adult in the room, your favorite partner, HC.
