The week's question
In December 2024, in the thread "Re: BRK: Why Not XOM?", BreckHutHigh asked the members: "What about the long road trips with kids?" This week it is put to everyone again. The button below opens the small thread re-asking it - read what others have said so far, then give your own answer as an ordinary reply.

"I take it you're not concerned with the acidification of the oceans or the rapidly accelerating extinction of species?" - Sano

I take it that you didn't comprehend the post where I said that progress is never clean, pretty, and in a straight line? It is sometimes two steps forward and one step back. I clearly mentioned that often progress creates problems elsewhere that eventually need to be addressed (and history has shown that we have).

Hundreds of years ago when people first started congregating and cities got larger and larger, people died from all sorts of diseases that came from city living. The disposal of human excrement and the rodent born diseases carried by rats. If you were alive at the time you would have been a Doomer saying cities are going to collapse because so many humans could not live together in such a small space. You never would have been able to picture the cities that now have tens of millions of people in their metropolitan areas.

I suppose I'll start bowing down on my deck every time a SpaceX launch rises above the traffic stalled on Hwy 101 ?" - Sano

I will take it that you now just responding with silly strawmen that you don't have anything intelligent to say about anything I have actually said?
