Just my opinion, but there would be a contentious convention, a candidate would emerge, that candidate would get the support of the base regardless, but...the swing voters wouldn't have a lot of time to figure that candidate out. If Biden were stronger, they would get slaughtered. Given that Biden is regarded as a weak candidate for the moment, the Reps would still be at a disadvantage, but I wouldn't think it was a guaranteed loss.
