You're viewing this through your own value system, and missing the true picture. Iran, and all Islamist terrorists, have targeted innocent civilians since forever and a day. When you're a religious bigot, which they certainly are, it's natural to view all non-believers as legitimate targets. They don't care about American public opinion. We're all evil to them.
We may all be evil to them, but that doesn’t stop them from being pragmatists when it comes to fighting this war.
So far, they have shown themselves remarkably adept at running circles around American diplomatic efforts.
And they have demonstrated a sophisticated understanding of the American public in their early war propaganda efforts.
I have no doubt that they would kill as many of us as possible IF IT WAS IN THEIR INTERESTS TO DO SO.
But it’s not, so I doubt that they will.
