Back to the 50’s when Ayn Rand’s Atlas Shrugged and the Fountainhead where the protagonist of the self-assured independent individual that overcomes the incompetent underlings and interfering useless government to great success. But it didn’t quite work out for her that way. In 1976, she retired from her newsletter and, despite her lifelong objections to any government-run program, was enrolled in and claimed Social Security and Medicare with the aid of a social worker.
