The week's question
In December 2024, in the thread "Re: BRK: Why Not XOM?", BreckHutHigh asked the members: "What about the long road trips with kids?" This week it is put to everyone again. The button below opens the small thread re-asking it - read what others have said so far, then give your own answer as an ordinary reply.

I'm not sure that would be true of Trump. He seems more likely to take credit, claim that he did think of it, and get everyone around him to do the same.

I can see that scenario. When I was at the pump seal company, all of us in the marketing department were herded into the big conference room for a presentation on the new "pre-engineered" seal line. By the time they finished the presentation, I had an idea that would increase parts interchangeability, cutting costs for the company, and improving delivery times for customers. I told the National Sales Manager about my idea. He blew me off. A year later, a "sales letter" came around, from the National Sales Manager, announcing "a great new innovation in the pre-engineered seal line", which was exactly what I had proposed. Of course, no-one made the slightest acknowledgement of my trying to make a contribution, as if the entire thing had sprung from the mind of top management.

So, yes, it's plausible that Trump could steal an idea and claim it as his own. He might do that immediately, or wait a year, hoping everyone forgets the suggestion, before he rolls it out as his own.

Still, I'm not sure that the troops will have much better luck finding an exit strategy for us.

Doesn't really matter. "Bibi" will not accept anything less that the total destruction of the Iranian regime. That has been his wet dream for 40 years. Having finally suckered a POTUS into doing the heavy lifting on that project, he isn't going to let Trump off the hook.
