imagine you’re a famous baseball player and are about to bat the winning hit. Accidentally, the pitcher tosses a Christian baby at you. Would you still hit the baby out of the stadium and win millions, or spare the Christian baby?
How many runs are needed to win? How many runners are on base?
1. If losing by 7 or more runs, you can't win because not enough runs can be scored to win in ONE hit.
2. If a boy is pitched AND losing by 5 runs or less, then hitting ONE ball out scores 5 runs--so that could be the "winning hit". If hit TWO balls out, is that 6 runs (or more?) and that meets the stated premise--"winning hit". Sacrifices sometimes have to be made.
3. If a girl is pitched, then ZERO balls can be "bat" and the game is lost because NO ball(s) can be a home run.
Walks don't count because the stated premise is "bat the winning hit" and that statement would eliminate a walk because that would *not* "bat the winning hit".
