I am an American just for the record, so for me the question is why don't I spend more effort looking for foreign alternatives to what seems like an obvious pretty good choice for invcestments.
The reason I invest in American stocks primarily is because American stocks make more money than foreign stocks on average. And this is true both in the sense of stock price appreciation AND measured by growth in Earnings of US stocks vs the rest of the world.
I don't particularly let my political wishes distort my assessments of reality, and the reality is I am investing primarily to make as much money without too much risk or horrifying externalities. I'd sort of love it if somewhere in the world a locus to challenge Silicon Valley were to arise, I would certainly invest in whatever they built that displaced Amazon, Google, Apple, Nvidia, OpenAI, or Anthropic. I'll set a Google (for now) alert to ping me in case anything like that ever happens.
