If it is accurate, this specific calculator lays out a pretty clear picture factoring growth and inflation.

The very best calculator is one you write yourself in excel that takes in your exact financial circumstances. If you have those skills I highly recommend rolling your own.

Just from the specifications listed on the left of the panel, there are not nearly enough inputs to produce a finely tuned (and hence realistic) output. One example, the model has one input for inflation. My spreadsheet has three - one for general living expenses, another (higher) inflation rate for medical expenses, and a third that I use as the escalator for SSI payments.
