The week's question
In December 2024, in the thread "Re: BRK: Why Not XOM?", BreckHutHigh asked the members: "What about the long road trips with kids?" This week it is put to everyone again. The button below opens the small thread re-asking it - read what others have said so far, then give your own answer as an ordinary reply.

They do know that the burning of the Reichstag was a bad thing, right? Unless you're a NAZI,

From what I see, seems the Reichstag fire was likely lit by Communists. But the incident, like 9/11, and the Kirk murder, provides an excuse to advance an agenda.

The evening news was reporting on people being fired, or suspended, all over the country, for not being suitably devastated by Kirk's death. I'm too young to have first hand knowledge of the environment in the 1950s, when Communist hysteria was turned up to 11. Probably most of us have heard of how actors, directors, and radio personalities, were blacklisted, so they could not get a job in their field, because of some real, or imagined, connection to Communists. Some materials I have seen said, the way to get yourself off the hook, with the anti-Communist thought police, was to name other people as possible Communists, so the thought police had more people to go after.

What I have had personal experience with, is bosses much like Trump. The expectation was everyone voice full throated support for whatever came out of the boss' pie-hole, no matter how delusional or stupid. If you could not do that, keep your mouth shut, work like a dog, and hope no-one notices you aren't chanting the company chant. Do not, ever, ever, say anything the boss does not want to hear, or you are dead at the company.
