So, it seems you're railing against hypocrisy. I don't think you'd find much objection from the folks here (or the ones I know in real life).

But are you only concerned about leftist hypocrisy? The right is at least as bad (IMO, worse...one of several reasons I stopped being a Republican). You only rarely call them out on it (I can think of a few instances on this board...I don't know about TMF since I seldom visited PA).

As a quibble, I don't think it's hypocrisy to follow the law with respect to tax breaks. I may not think a specific break is a good idea, but I would be foolish not to use it for as long as it exists. For example, I think they should remove the step-up basis on inherited assets. But I got it when 1poormom died. At the same time, I don't complain about having to distribute her IRA within 10 years. I think that's more than fair, even if I don't really want to do it. If I had the choice, I wouldn't. But it does make sense to force me to do it, and I can see that. So no complaint.
